You might not realize it but the color or colors that you choose for your event say a lot. Beyond their obvious reasoning for your decor, color at events can help create certain moods and get your main event message across. However, choosing the wrong color or group of colors could send the wrong message. To make sure you are sending the right message at your event check out the moods that these common colors can create at an events...
Red: Passion, Love, Power, Excitement, Strength, Anger, Intensity
Orange: Fun, Warmth, Confidence, Flamboyance, Friendliness
Yellow: Hopefulness, Cheer, Optimism, Energy, Positivity
Green: Nature, Health, Renewal, Growth, Healing, Harmony
Blue: Peace, Trust, Dependability, Calm, Intelligence
Purple: Royalty, Luxury, Creativity, Spirituality, Wealth
White: Purity, Innocence, Empowerment, Goodness, Cleanliness
Black: Authority, Power, Mystery, Drama, Sophistication

From the color of lights, flowers, furniture, linens and even the food color plays an important role. Have you ever considered the message that your event color selection is sending to your guests?

The World Cup officially kicks off today down in Brazil with the host country's team taking on Croatia in their first group match. Since everyone has World Cup fever so I thought today would be the perfect time to share with you some of my favorite ideas for hosting a soccer party.

We all know that you can't host a party without decorations. Since the World Cup will be lasting a couple of weeks I found some easy soccer decoration ideas that are easy to put together and you can use throughout the entire cup. An easy DIY decoration idea is to create flag toothpicks for your team or all the teams that are playing in the world cup like these from blogger In Good Company.
Even if you are setting everyone up in front of the TV these table decoration ideas are easy to customize for any soccer party setting. You can fill an empty apothecary jar with small soccer balls, like the blogger from Paisley Petal Events did, or create your own soccer field with a plastic green table cloth and while electrical tape.
If you have ever been to a profession soccer game or watched one on TV you might have heard a constant loud noise in the air. Soccer fans are famous for their noise makers at games to cheers on their team. Just because you might not be sitting in the stands doesn't mean you can't have your own vuvuzela, or stadium horn, too. Blogger Lindsey from Filth Wizardry came up with a great craft idea on how you can make your own stadium horn.
What would a soccer themed party be without some delicious soccer themed eats?! Here is a fun soccer field Tex-Mex dip courtesy of Spoonful Recipes and perfect for any soccer match watch party you may be hosting or attending.
Don't forget the desserts! Those gingerbread cookie cutters that you probably have stashed away for the summer? Dig them out now to create your own soccer player boys like these from In Good Company. You can decorate your cookies to match your team colors. If gingerbread cookie decorating seems like it would be a bit of a challenge you can whip up a batch of cupcakes and put them together to create one big soccer ball cake like blogger Dukes & Duchesses did. Either option sounds delicious to me!
And to make sure you don't miss a single match here is the complete FIFA World Cup Schedule.
Team USA isn't playing until Monday, but there are still plenty of exciting matches to watch between now and then. For more World Cup information you can head on over to the FIFA website hereAre you going to be watching the World Cup this year? Who are you hoping to see win? Good team USA!

Some of you may recall that this past Halloween I made my very own pinata costume. While I will not be pulling the costume back out for Cinco de Mayo on Monday (yes I still have it in my closet...it took way too long to make for me to just throw it away!), making the pinata dress had inspired me to track down some more pinata craft ideas for the upcoming fiesta celebrations. Here is one great party favor idea you can make for all your guests...

Pinata Favor Boxes from blogger Ilana Saul
You will need:
  • mini cardboard or papier-mâché gift boxes
  • crepe paper or tissue paper in multiple colors
  • glue
  • scissors
Instructions
  1. Cut long, one-inch wide strips out of your paper.
  2. Take each strip, and using your scissors, cut fringe into one side of the strip.
  3. Line up the bottom of your fringe with the bottom edge of your box and glue. You only need a little bit of glue to get your paper to stick.
  4. Continuing to work from the bottom up, in alternating colors, layering as you go.
  5. Fill your boxes with party favors, like bright colored candies, nail polish, lip gloss or mini tequila bottles, and get ready to put a smile on all your guests’ faces! Just be careful that they don't walk away with multiple pinata party boxes!

And of course if you really want to get into the Cinco de Mayo spirit, you can always go for the best dressed and make your own pinata costume. I'm not going to guarantee it, but you probably won't have to pay for a single drink all night if you show up to celebrate wearing a pinata costume.

How are you planning on celebrating Cinco de Mayo on Monday?

Growing up I loved taking part in Easter egg hunts with my siblings that my grandmother would plan for us. It didn't matter if we were in Richmond or if we were at the beach on Spring Break, she would always bring those plastic eggs with here so we could go on an egg hunt. Now that we are all older we don't participate in the egg hunt anymore on Easter Sunday but boy were those fun times! There are so many great ideas on how you can organize an egg hunt for kids today and even some great ideas on how to organize one for those who may have outgrown those matching Easter outfits (I know you all know exactly what I am talking about!). Here are some great tips on how you can put together the perfect Easter egg hunt for any age group.

1. Color coordinate your eggs.
If you have a large group of kids, especially of varying ages, color coordinating who searches for what egg is a great idea. You can hide the eggs according to the kid who will be searching for them. This way every kid will have fun during the egg hunt! Don't forget the color coordinating buckets as well!

2. An egg hunt doesn't have to be outside or during the day.
You don't have to have a big yard to host a successful egg hunt. You can have just as much fun hiding all your eggs inside for people to find (just don't forget to inform your guests where the off-limits areas are). Another fun spin on the traditional egg hunt is to host your egg hunt at night and give your egg hunters flashlights or use glow-in-the-dark eggs. This is a great option if you have a bunch of teenagers to hide eggs for.

3. Customize your egg surprises.
As we got older my grandmother changed out some of the candy she put in the eggs for coins (which my sister and I always loved finding) and other treats age appropriate. For an older group of egg hunters (or even adults) instead of candy you could fill some of your eggs with mini shooters, money, scratchers, gift certificates, or even movie tickets to go along with your traditional candy filled eggs.

4. Add confetti eggs.
Ever heard of cascarones? They are eggs filled with confetti and traditionally found at fiestas. However, you can usually find these anywhere that sells plastic eggs (I saw some at my local Kroger just last week). You could add these to your egg hunt with your normal eggs and if you find one you can break it on a fellow egg hunter and then get to steal one of their eggs from their basket.

Are you hosting or taking part in an Easter egg hunt this year? Be sure to share your favorite Easter egg hunt ideas and memories below! Hoppy Easter!

Before every holiday season I love finding new decorating ideas and crafts for me to tackle (well try) before the holiday actually arrives, and Easter is no exception! Last year I shared with you some great Easter party and egg decorating ideas that will keep me busy for quite a few years. I'm thinking this year I might try out the sharpie eggs, but we shall see! While I may have a Pinterest board just bursting with great Easter themed recipes, crafts, decorations and more, today I thought I would share with you some great ways that you could decorate your table for Easter. I can't wait to try some of these ideas out!

Carrot Silverware Set
If your family is one to host Easter outside or if you are serving food at an egg hunt this is a great idea to try out this year! Spoonful provides a great step-by-step tutorial on how to wrap your utensils to turn them into these Easter carrots. Display your carrots in an adorable basket and you are ready for lunch!

Bunny Napkin
And for those dining inside on Easter these bunny napkins from Taste of Home are the perfect table accessory! I loved making origami when I was younger and napkin folding is no different. These bunny napkins are the perfect accessory for your plate or you could create a springtime centerpiece with the napkins, paper streamers and confetti.

 Easter Mason Jars
There are no shortages of holiday craft ideas that use mason jars. (I feel like I need to start stock piling mason jars ASAP.) When I saw these bunny and chick mason jars from blogger Number 2 Pencil I thought they would make the cutest Easter table centerpiece! She used spray paint and vinyl adhesive to decorate the jars but you could also use regular craft paint and sharpies to create your own Easter animals. Don't forget to fill them with Easter treats!

Peeps Floral Centerpiece
This is another great Easter table decoration idea from Taste of Home: a peeps floral centerpiece. They provide you with a simple, 4-step tutorial on how to create this yummy Easter floral centerpiece. And of course you can use any kind of vase, candy and flowers you want when you create your own peep centerpiece. I think tulips with coordinating peeps and jelly beans would look great out on the Easter table.

Burlap Easter Bunnies
These bunny bags from blogger Landeelu would made the most adorable Easter table display. She provides awesome pictures and directions on how to turn a piece of burlap into springtime Easter bunnies. While I don't own a sewing machine I think that these would still be easy enough to make by hand sewing them. You can fill them with beans, rice, corn or yummy Easter treats.

How do you plan on decorating your table this Easter?

The Olympics are back and its time to celebrate! While you can host a Winter Olympics party anytime during the next two weeks I am in favor of hosting one during the opening ceremonies, which airs tomorrow night. To get you into your team U-S-A spirit I have put together some fun ideas to help you create a fun Winter Olympics Party, with a few Russian additions of course!

Invitations
A great way to coordinate a viewing party is to create an online invitation like this one from evite. They have a dozen different Olympic and team USA themed designs to choose from and you don't have to worry about postage!
Food and Decorations
There are so many different ways that you can choose to theme your Olympic menu and decor. For an opening ceremonies party you can come up with fun food ideas using the Olympic rings and decorate with flags from every country. With Russia hosting the Olympics this year you could also add some unique menu items that those in Sochi might be enjoying.
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
Entertainment
This one is pretty easy. Check your local listings and see what time the Olympics will be on TV. Make sure you have plenty of seating room for your guests and let the cheering begin!

And for a complete schedule of what sports are competing which day here is a great chart to follow or you can download the NBC Olympics Highlights and Results app from iTunes.
What events are you looking forward to watching during the 2014 Winter Olympic Games? Go team USA!!

This has been one crazy week as I have been getting ready for two big events at work this weekend. Even with all the craziness I cannot wait for Sunday to get here (besides the fact that I will finally get some much needed rest) as it is Super Bowl Sunday!!! I love watching all the new ad's, dancing along to the half time performance, enjoying some delicious tailgate/football food one last time, oh and watching a little bit of the game (but that is totally optional). While I am still figuring out what I want to make for this year's Super Bowl festivities I did find some adorable (and easy) crafts that you can put together and have ready for Sunday's festivities. Enjoy!

Football Mason Jars
If you grew up in the south mason jars are a staple in your house hold and used for everything from canning to vases and glassware to workshop jars. This Sunday pull out those jars (wash them) and grab a roll of white electrical or washi tape to turn your jars into footballs like blogger Flamingo Toes did. At the end of the evening you can pull off the tape and add this to the list of why mason jars are the best.

Football Coasters
And while you are making your football mason jars don't forget that its a must to have coasters to go with them! These burlap football coasters, created by Stitched by Crystal, are the perfect solution! They take just minutes to make and can event be customized with your team's colors if you so desire. For the complete step-by-step instructions head on over to Snap Creativity.

Football Field Buffet Table
And last, but not least, here is a fun way to get your buffet table ready for the big game. With green felt, white duck tape and white vinyl you can turn your party buffet into your own football field like blogger A Night Owl did. Check out her easy how-to instructions on her blog and get your table ready for its own party kickoff. For an extra touch you can make your own football banner from the leftover duck tape, curling ribbon and brown construction paper.

Are you making something fun for this year's Super Bowl?

Good luck to all the Seahawk and Broncos fans this weekend! Who are you cheering for this year?

As I am currently sitting at my computer trying not to shake like a crazy person, I thought it was only fitting to put together the perfect party idea that will be sure to warm all your guests up nice and quick: a Hot Chocolate Bar. This is the perfect accessory for any party or get together you might be hosting this winter and the customization options are endless. While I am trying to keep my fingers and toes warm I hope you all enjoy!

What you will need to make a hot chocolate bar:
  • Hot Chocolate Mix
  • Cups
  • Spoons
  • Straws
  • Delicious Mix-Ins

To setup your hot chocolate bar you can set out hot water and cocoa mix or you can premix a batch for your guests to enjoy. If you premix the hot chocolate a great way to keep it warm is to serve it in a crock-pot with a ladle for your guests to serve themselves.

These mix-ins could really be anything that you can think of! Here are some great suggestions to get you started:
  • Andes Mints
  • Candy Canes
  • Caramel Squares
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows
  • Chocolate Shavings
  • Cinnamon
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Hershey's Kisses (any flavor)
  • M&M's
  • Mini Marshmallows (any flavor)
  • Nutella
  • Nutmeg
  • Oreo Crumbles
  • Peanut Butter Chips
  • Peppermints
  • Pirouette Cookies
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
  • Toffee Chips
  • Whipped Cream
  • White Chocolate Chips
To spruce up your hot chocolate bar a little more you can put out festive cups or a fun array of mugs as well as some decorative paper straws. Those adorable striped and polka dotted straws are always a hit with any kind of drink! And don't slack on the presentation of your mix-ins either. Serve them in a variety of fun glassware with cute signs letting your guests know what each item is.

And for those who are looking for an adult mix-in try Bailey's, cinnamon liquor, Frangelico, peppermint schnapps or Kahlua. Anyone you choose (or all of them) will be sure to keep you warm and toasty!

What is your favorite thing that you like to add to a cup of hot chocolate? I hope everyone is staying warm! Have a wonderful weekend!

The holidays are filled with rushing around seeing friends and family, buying last minute gifts, being covered in wrapping paper and bows and my favorite - watching Christmas movies. Last week I was talking with one of my friends and they mentioned that they had never seen Elf. This just had me speechless. How could someone have never seen this holiday classic?!? However, just like most things this gave me a great Christmas party idea for a Buddy the Elf themed Party! The movie is filled with so much holiday cheer that everyone will leave with a huge smile on their face (because smiling is my favorite!) Here are some great ideas on how you can put together your own Buddy the Elf Holiday Party...
Invites
To invite all your friends to this festive evening take one of your favorite quotes from the movie and turn it into your invitation. This invitation from Anders Ruff is perfect for spreading holiday cheer!
Menu
In the movie Buddy shares with us the four main food groups of elves: candy, candy canes, candy corns and syrup and through his New York adventures discovers coffee and spaghetti. A fun menu you can create a fun Elf themed menu using these items that all your guests will love. Just be sure to leave all the different items separated as I don't think there are too many people like Buddy who would eat everything all tossed together.
Entertainment
Now there are w few great activities that come to mind for a Buddy the Elf themed party. Like my friend who hasn't seen the movie you could turn this holiday party into a movie night. You could spread some Christmas cheer by singing loud for all to hear by going caroling. And for those who want a Christmas crafting party, you could have snowflake making and other holiday decor activities as Buddy loved decorating for Christmas.
What is your favorite type of Christmas party to host or attend? Only 6 more days till Christmas!

No matter what kind of Christmas or holiday party you are hosting this year it is always fun to come away with some great pictures to remember the event by. What better way to get some great shots of you and your friends than with a holiday themed photo booth! Throughout the night (as people enjoy another glass of egg nog or two) you and your friends will be lining up to get your holiday vogue on with these Chirstmas photo booth ideas...

The first step in creating your Christmas photo booth is to figure out what kind of background you want to make. Here are two great ideas below. The first one from blogger Family Ever After created a photo booth frame wall from plywood. And for those who are not that handy with a jigsaw or building something out of wood this second photo booth backdrop by blogger Little Pumpkin Grace is perfect for you. All you need to do is hang a large piece of fabric up on a wall and then decorate it with some holiday garland or banners.
Once you get your backdrop setup you can't forget about your picture props! Some great holiday photo prop ideas include:
  • A Santa Hat
  • Reindeer Antler Headband
  • Silly Holiday Glasses
  • Over-Sized Candy Canes
  • Festive Holiday Yard Signs
  • An Elf Hat
  • Holiday Garland
  • A Top Hat
  • A Santa Beard
  • A Wrapped Present Box
  • A Holiday Bow
You could also create your own photo booth props or buy a set like this one from Etsy store Party Goodies.
This year at our office holiday party we are having a photo booth and I am having so much fun finding great photo props for everyone to use. So far I have found some great items in the Target Dollar Spot. I cannot wait to see all the silly pictures that everyone takes at the party next week! Are you having a photo booth at your holiday party this year?
